Hi NAVPAQ,
No, unfortunately they don't.
The ruler graphic is purely for communication. To an extent it can function as a ruler if there isn't one around...

Thats a great idea NAVPAQ! There has to be a way to make that possible...

It's great, but only of value if you also get to see how much is used with either a scale of LEDs or a form of shading, (like the charge indicator on a Duracell).
Michael, here is what you can do: You can use Electronic Ink to display the markings. Electronic ink can change, appear and disappear like any LCD display. But what is great is that when there is no power you can still keep the display and its visible. You only need power to change the reading. So everytime you plug the USB, it can update the display for current memory left. Why dont you upload another image that does this and lets see how many people want to buy it. I know electtronic ink vendors.

There are most certainly memory sticks out there right now that have readings showing how much room is left on them.

Looks cool, although when you get to 2gig they may be getting too long

If this worked like NAVPAQ said, it would be even better. I like the concept.
nice idea, just one major problem
it looses it meaning when its not with other sticks of different capacities
IE, if i buy a 1gb stick, and only a 1gb stick, it just looks like its got a ruler printed one it

kinda dumb if you ask me. Rather make it an actual mm or something so it's mildly useful.

i would make it in mL's since you're measuring volume, not length.

I do think thats cool, but all the same wouldn't buy longer ones that were 'bigger' - I still like the idea of having measurements on it though
I wouldn't want to see the 4GB one that measures around a foot long. How would you carry that in your pocket?
The idea seems unnecessary as the tick marks don't provide any added feature or prestige beyond what a $10 flash drive from anywhere can already do.

Nah. Not really an important feature that would make me choose this flash drive over another. I mean, product differentiation on the USB market drive? You have to come up with something better than this if you want to compete with the USB drives that play music and do other things as well.

Fun idea. Perhaps change the scale so when you get bigger capacities, you're not carrying around an Italian dry salami in your pocket :P
i like the idea of a ruler on a memory stick. do people really have that many memory sticks that they can't just stuff them into a computer to see how much space is left on them?
Can U show capacity used on the scale?

E- Ink`s marketing manager just showed me a USB that is using their technology to display memory:)

Easily outdated. You can buy 32GB of flash memory these days. Does that mean you've got to carry a meter stick around with you?!
