...yu got rocks in yur head?

(Mon, 21 Aug 2006 20:11:16 GMT) Michael Leung says

Hi NAVPAQ, Maybe I do... This product aims to connect to the user on an intangible level - building on familiarity and resurrecting memories.

are u taking the piss would make a good weapon you could spin it around ure head in a fight

Looks brilliant especially if the rock bit has the feel & texture or a real rock, however what about the cable? It sort of ruins the experience. maybe a wireless version ?

(Tue, 22 Aug 2006 22:55:23 GMT) Michael Leung says

Good point 9Lives. I chose a cable, as wireless would make the stone considrably bigger - batteries, battery door, components, etc. The cable could be designed, but I wanted to keep things simple.

Maybe a retractable 1.5 foot long cable? I've seen retractable Cat5 Ethernet cable before, for example.

(Mon, 28 Aug 2006 09:27:14 GMT) Hoek says

I like the idea;)

(Tue, 29 Aug 2006 03:03:02 GMT) JD says

retractable cable would be good, nobody likes carrying a cable around

(Thu, 31 Aug 2006 00:27:07 GMT) adam says

i understand its different. do people like carrying a rock around though? USB devices are often cold and sterile, and a rock, to me, is not the best alternative in nature.

interesting,but not so good

(Sat, 16 Sep 2006 11:54:57 GMT) Harb says

why would I put some memory in a rock?

(Wed, 04 Oct 2006 01:45:53 GMT) Jon says

Wtf? Bad idea. The only idea that would come out of this is to hide mass storage devices in bricks to weigh them down so theives dont steal important data.

(Tue, 17 Oct 2006 10:08:30 GMT) Firebird says

as my lecturer used to say , great idea ! (but far from a design)

(Thu, 19 Oct 2006 06:14:05 GMT) Lel says

Looks like you just used Photoshop to "plug" a usb cable up to a rock. Neat idea, but purely conceptual and needs much more thought.

Brillant!! I love it, ESPECIALLY the chord coming out of a rock, very ironic. I would buy one tommorrow.

(Thu, 19 Oct 2006 14:57:39 GMT) sam says

can i get this in a log or mud clod version?

(Thu, 19 Oct 2006 15:07:22 GMT) jim says

I want to see other rock assesories. Like a two ton Tower case. Interesting play on the 70's Pet Rock Idea. Nice.

(Fri, 20 Oct 2006 02:26:20 GMT) chris says

lol funny as hell to say the least but i would definately buy it and tell all my friends *i can plug a rock into my computer can you!)

I want one...love the symbolism: the stone of wisdom is transmuted into simply the stone of information; or the rock of faith. And it would feel nice in your pocket. we need more organic styled hardware

(Sat, 21 Oct 2006 02:07:07 GMT) Sean Q says

The only memories resurrected for me are ones of throwing rocks... That's probably not a good idea when it comes to current data storage devices. If you want to resurrect memories, why not cross taxidermy with portable storage devices. "Damn! That dead parakeet USB storage device is totally killer!" At least then the user will take good care of their data.

To easy to forget about. Doesn't seem like you can connect to your self. Blends in to much. WOuldn't beable to show it off.

(Mon, 23 Oct 2006 19:01:28 GMT) sam says

Taxidermy...brilliant! Would the birds head be the cap that comes off Ala "Dumb and Dumber" movie?

hmmmm interesting but its acually quite big if you look at the computer next to it so wud be annoying to carry about a big rock also how exactly does it change your "hard drive experience"? apart from you getting it out and going "oh its a rock"

I would buy one based solely on the fact that this thing is quirky and fun. Imagine plugging in all over the place.. with a rock!

(Thu, 09 Nov 2006 19:38:41 GMT) jkae says

you could get one and make it into a pet rock!

(Mon, 20 Nov 2006 02:24:43 GMT) jen says

no. if you drop it outside you wont be able to distinguish it from other stones.

(Mon, 20 Nov 2006 02:25:36 GMT) jen says

i changed my mind, the look on peoples faces would be worth it.

(Mon, 27 Nov 2006 04:56:55 GMT) Mars says

Cool idea! While not the most practical, it's certainly odd enough to be fun - I'd buy one. And re: the photoshop theory - the rock seems to be just lying on top of the plug :)

I think it a good idea to mix electronics with the natural elements. I don't see people buying this unless they have the same look to their house.
